Restore Movement, Spark Joy: Become a Pediatric Physical Therapist in the Heart of Austin

At the intersection of healing and childhood wonder lies the rare opportunity to shape futures with your hands and heart. We’re seeking a Pediatric Physical Therapist ready to make a lasting impact on young lives—helping children reach milestones, regain movement, and rediscover their independence through compassionate, play-informed care.

Nestled in the creative pulse of Austin, this role offers more than a job—it offers purpose, community, and the opportunity to grow alongside your patients and peers.

Whether you're guiding a toddler through their first post-surgical steps or helping a teen athlete return to the field after injury, every day you’ll be part of a deeply supportive team committed to exceptional care. At our outpatient clinic, we don’t just treat—we cheer, encourage, and celebrate every inch of progress.

Responsibilities

Evaluate and Develop Treatment Plans: Assess pediatric patients’ physical conditions and design developmentally appropriate, individualized care plans.

Implement Therapeutic Interventions: Use play-based exercises, manual techniques, and specialized pediatric equipment to improve gross motor function, strength, balance, and mobility.

Monitor Patient Progress: Track developmental outcomes and therapy benchmarks, adjusting plans as children grow and respond to treatment.

Collaborate with Multidisciplinary Teams: Work closely with pediatric occupational and speech therapists, physicians, school liaisons, and family members to ensure holistic support.

Educate Families and Caregivers: Provide ongoing guidance on home programs, safety recommendations, and long-term mobility strategies.

Promote Pediatric Wellness: Champion physical activity, postural alignment, and injury prevention in children from infancy to adolescence.

Education

Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) or equivalent from an accredited program.

Pediatric clinical experience preferred, but new grads with pediatric training are encouraged to apply.

Certifications

Active Physical Therapist (PT) license in the State of Texas.

CPR certification required.

Pediatric specialization (PCS) a plus but not required.

Skills

Experience working with children across developmental stages, from infants to teens.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills for building trust with kids and families.

Creative, patient-centered problem-solving and a flexible therapeutic approach.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative outpatient clinic setting.

Benefits

Competitive Salary: depending on experience and pediatric specialization.

Health & Wellness: Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and mental health benefits.

Time Off: Generous PTO plus holidays and flexible scheduling for work-life balance.

Professional Development: Support for CEUs, licensure renewals, and pediatric specialization.

Team Culture: Warm, collaborative environment deeply rooted in the South Austin community.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Pediatric Physical Therapist, you’ll spend your days on the move—both literally and figuratively. From the moment your young patients arrive, often bursting through the doors with nervous energy or big smiles, your job begins with connection. You’ll kneel beside them to say hello, get eye-to-eye with parents to understand their hopes, and build treatment plans that are as effective as they are engaging.

Each session is a blend of science and play: crawling across soft mats to build core strength, hopping between colored circles to improve coordination, using therapy balls and tunnels to make balance work feel like an adventure. You’ll witness big leaps and quiet victories—first steps, confident jumps, or simply a moment of stillness that once seemed impossible.

Your work will involve more than just time in the clinic. You’ll collaborate with other therapists, communicate with pediatricians, and connect with parents who are eager for insights, reassurance, and support. Whether working one-on-one or consulting with caregivers, you’ll have a seat at the table as a trusted voice in each child’s care journey.

A Team You Can Grow With—In a City That Grows On You

Our team believes in care that extends beyond the therapy session. Many of us have built deep roots in Austin because of the unique camaraderie we’ve found—both inside the clinic and outside in the community. We’re a group of purpose-driven professionals who share lunches under the oak trees, celebrate birthdays with tacos from the food truck around the corner, and cheer each other on through every professional milestone.

What sets us apart isn’t just our clinical expertise—it’s our shared joy in the work we do and the lives we impact. You’ll never feel like a cog in a machine here. You’ll be part of a close-knit, mission-oriented team that celebrates progress, prioritizes kindness, and believes that showing up for each other is just as important as showing up for our patients.

A Place That Balances Purpose and Play

This opportunity is based in Austin, where urban charm meets wild greenbelt trails, and where music spills onto sidewalks as naturally as kids spill into sunshine. This isn’t just a place—it’s a mood. Think: early-morning runs along Barton Creek, late-afternoon farmers’ markets, and weekend paddles on Lady Bird Lake.

Beyond the skyline and sound stages, Austin offers a unique mix of creativity, community, and calm. Picture grabbing a post-shift coffee at a quirky neighborhood café or catching an outdoor concert just a few blocks from your home. The area is known for its independent spirit, progressive vibe, and strong sense of local pride—making it the perfect backdrop for professionals looking to make a difference in their field and in their lives.

With its abundance of family-friendly neighborhoods, top-notch schools, and no state income tax, Austin is ideal for healthcare professionals who want career fulfillment without sacrificing quality of life. It’s a place where you can plant roots, raise kids, or just enjoy the rhythm of a region that believes in balance, wellness, and good barbecue.
